The first course in the program. In Entry Level PCBs, you'll learn the fundamentals of Electric Circuits, PCB Design, and Altium. We'll learn what PCBs actually are and how to design them. Then we'll learn about Altium (a professional PCB design tool) and how to start using it. Finally, we'll learn about fundamental Electric Circuits concepts and directly apply them into Altium and design out first board.
The second course in this program. In Full Circuit Design, we'll use the various skills we've learned in the last course to design a complete circuit. We'll see what it takes to plan, analyze, and design a full schematic and PCB layout (like we'd do at work). Your confidence in PCB Design will increase through this experience, and give you the understanding of what it takes to design real boards in the real world.
The third course in this program. In Professional PCBs, we'll take our PCB Design and Altium skills to the next level. By incorporating professional skills and workflows, we'll be more organized and design PCBs the "right way". We'll learn how to design our own symbols and footprints, make multi-sheet schematics, and multi-layer PCBs that are double-sided. And in the end, we'll optimize our previous board and see what it takes to make a "new revision" and improve our designs.
The fourth course in this program. In Analog Electronics, we'll build our fundamentals of the frequency domain and analog circuits. We'll start to answer the question of "What is high speed design", and the "deep theory" in Electrical Engineering. By learning the intuition of the ferquency domain, why it's important to learn, and see actual examples in industry, we'll be able to analyze and manipulate complex signals. Finally, we'll design a test board to practice designing and gain practical skills in analog design.
The fifth course in this program. In Power Electronics, we'll see what it takes to power the components, boards, and modules we'll get exposed to in industry. By learning what power is, the different methods we can modify it, and how we can design circuits to manipulate it, we'll grow in confidence when powering our devices. We'll learn the theory of linear and switch-mode regulators, design test boards for various types of regulators (LDOs, Buck, Boost, etc.), and test everything at the end to get the "feel" for power design.
The final course in this program. In Digital Electronics, we'll dive into microcontrollers, programming, and various software-controlled devices. Most systems in industry are controlled remotely and programmatically, and as Hardware Engineers, we'll need to feel comfortable working with microcontrollers and writing scripts to perform various functions. By the end of this course, we'll have designed a test board incorporating a microcontroller, various devices and sensors, and learn what it takes to make complete digital circuits in an industry setting.
